About Anita

Anita S. Henehan was born in St. Louis, Missouri, where she lived until she and her second husband, Paul, bravely sold everything, bought a motor home, and hit the road.

Living in an RV gave Anita a brand new, exciting lifestyle. She and her first husband, Herb Sokolik, had raised three children before a boating accident left her a widow. At age 50, this homemaker launched her first career, founding an art consulting firm. Called Reflections In Design, it provided art to corporations in the U.S. and abroad. After 17 successful years, she sold this business to Color Art and retired “except when former clients call for assistance.”

Since May of 2000, Anita and Paul have intermittenly traveled North America in their 42-foot motor coach called Merrily We Roll Along Two. Her first book, How to Run Away from Home After 50, intrigued thousands who just needed a nudge to “run away” or who’ve already done so and can laugh in agreement as they read about her adventures. Her second book, Tales from the Road, relates more experiences and highlights hilarious episodes, fascinating fiascos, and heartwarming tales contributed by fellow RVers. It also features dozens of favorite places they’ve traveled in the U.S. and Canada.

Today, Anita volunteers as a tutor at an early childhood school, promotes her books, and travels several months a year in their motor coach.

She loves to hear from readers and fellow RVers and can be reached at anita@rvtravelswithanita.com
