Sarasota, Florida

One of our favorite places when traveling by RV

One of our favorite places that we travel to is Sarasota, Florida. Every year for the past several years, around the first of the year we drive our 42″ motorcoach to the Sun ‘N Fun resort. There are about 2000 people there in the winter. We call ourselves “snowbirds.” There is every imaginable activity available: the Olympic size swimming pool, tennis courts, classes, yoga, zumba classes, an on-site restaurant and jewelry-making classes are available. In fact, I can’t think of one activity that is missing. They are also building a workout facility that will be open this fall.

We “camp out” (if one could call it “camping”) with many friends whom we have met over the years as well as new friends we have made. Some people have motor homes, fifth wheels or campers and some live in “park models,” which are permanent stationary homes about the size of RV’s. Some people rent park models, and many people own them.

Sarasota has so much to offer people who like beaches, the theater, shopping and great restaurants. Some of the great beaches include Siesta Key, which has sugar white sand and Lido Beach, which is very close to shopping at St. Armand’s Circle. Now this is shopping at its best!

One of our favorite restaurants is “Pops” if you are a fan of seafood. It is located on the inland waterway just south of Sarasota. You will never run out of great places to dine.

If you are a golfer, get ready. There are many challenging golf courses all over the area.

As far as the theater goes, the Van Wezeloffers theater at its finest.

Marina Jacks and O’Learys are two restaurants downtown on the bay. It is lots of fun to sit outside, eat a casual meal and listen to live music.

This is just a snippit of why we love Sarasota. You won’t be sorry if you give it visit!
